adidas Originals Five-Two 3 Project | Stone Island Samba
After a first small preview of some of the collaborations from the adidas Originals Five-Two 3 Brands Pack, we can finally show you detailed images and give you lots of background information on each one of the releases. First we present you the adidas x Stone Island Samba.
Renowned for their trailblazing work in researching fabric treatments and studying form and function, Stone Island’s take on the Samba soccer training silhouette defies convention, taking the recognisable ‘Raso Gommato’ technical fabric from the brand’s archive, a rubberised military cotton satin, and treating it with an original process. Dyeing the separate upper components then unleashing a colour corrosion on it, washing off the colour, bar the serrated 3-Stripes to emphasise this iconic branding, highlighted with stitch detailing, and a more traditional suede forked forefoot panel.
Continuing the appropriately unorthodox approach to reworking a classic, asymmetric zip fastening replaces conventional lacing, revealing a dual branded tongue beneath, while a smoother outsole jettisons smaller details to focus on the main features. The Stone Island logo is rendered in white stitching on the left shoe, and a leather and suede heeltab, plus a custom sockliner finish a stunning new look for the Samba’s slimline silhouette.
